Issue 5 - March 2026 

Welcome to March's issue, and hopefully a start to warmer, sunnier Spring weather!

This month, we are pleased to feature two workshops as part of the CRANE Horizon Scanning Initiative in London, alongside our first Northern Ireland regional seminar in Belfast. We encourage members to register if you wish to attend.

If you have not yet joined the CRANE network, we invite you to do so. Membership is free and provides access to a growing portfolio of resources, events, and collaborative opportunities, including participation in our Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and Working Groups (WGs).

CRANE events happening in March 

We are running the following two workshops as part of the CRANE Horizon Scanning Initiative. These will build on insights gathered through our recent Delphi survey. Particularly in relation to how developments in these rapidly evolving fields demand new and adaptive security approaches, challenge established cyber security paradigms and interact with wider global challenges to generate novel and complex threats.

Northern Ireland regional seminar

Cyber-Resilient Innovation: Empowering Business and Society in the Age of Industry 5.0 and AI - Thursday,26 March 2026, 11:00 AM-1:00 PM (Hybrid)

Open to researchers,researchers, students, and industry professionals, this hybrid event will explore how cybersecurity awareness and research can support innovation, resilience, and responsible digital transformation.

Supply Chain Security workshop

As part of a collaborative effort between Systems Security Group (SSG) at Swansea University and WG3 of Semiconductor Manufacturing Cybersecurity Consortium (SMCC) of SEMI, they are hosting an interactive workshop on 12th March 2026, with a focus on strengthening cybersecurity across the semiconductor manufacturing supply chain.

Hosted by University of the West of England on 30th April 2026, this workshop aims to create an inclusive and constructive forum to share ideas, practices, and research that support diversity across the discipline. The workshop focuses on three key themes: gender, ethnicity, and neurodiversity.

NABS+ Visiting Fellowships

The Network Plus for Analytical Behavioural Science in Security and Defence (NABS+) is currently seeking expressions of interest from labs willing to host a visiting fellow, as well as proposals for specific projects or studies that would benefit from additional research support.

Funding is available for up to nine (9) Visiting Fellowships, with a maximum funding of £15,000 per Fellowship (at 100% Full Economic Cost, of which NABS+ will award 80% fEC).

Grant Writing & Dragon's Den

CREST in partnership with NABS+ are running a pre-conference workshop on 22nd June. The grant writing session will walk ECRs through the process of writing a successful funding application, and will speak to questions around how to tailor writing to specific funder, and Call, priorities.
